In 2016, ANTIKA celebrates its 30th anniversary and its commitment to the design and innovation of silver jewellery. To kick off the anniversary we published From the Archives, see here that highlights some of our past pieces and collections from many continents since ANTIKA’s inception. Developing our look into our Archives, has been like flipping through a school yearbook and looking back fondly at old friends.
Silver is a naturally occurring white metal, and gold is naturally yellow, whereas white gold requires the addition of other white metals to create an off-white effect. Sterling silver is white, shiny and beautiful! White gold then needs to be plated with rhodium to hide the off-white colour. This rhodium plating, needs to be maintained - the plating wears and needs to be re-done over and over during the life of the jewellery to maintain its white colour.
